Goodwood and Harwell Science and Innovation Campus sign agreement to champion UK science and technology innovation

Festival of Speed | Press Article 10/07/26

Goodwood, West Sussex, 9 July 2026: The Goodwood Estate Company Limited and The Harwell Science and Innovation Campus General Partner Limited have today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) establishing a framework for collaboration to champion science, technology and innovation.

The agreement brings together two centres of excellence with a shared ambition to showcase pioneering organisations working across sectors including space, quantum technologies, artificial intelligence and advanced engineering.

Under the Memorandum of Understanding, Goodwood and Harwell will work together to strengthen connections between organisations based at Harwell Science and Innovation Campus and the Goodwood Estate. They will collaborate on events and promote joint activities through communications and storytelling around sustainable innovation and clean performance.

The MOU was signed on the first day of FOS Future Lab presented by Randox, Goodwood’s interactive science and technology exhibition at Festival of Speed presented by Mastercard.

Curated by Lucy Johnston, FOS Future Lab explores advances across health, robotics, artificial intelligence, quantum computing, space exploration, underwater habitation and digital innovation on the theme "Technology for a Better World."

More than 90,000 visitors will experience FOS Future Lab across the four days of Festival of Speed, where exhibitors this year include IBM, the European Space Agency (ESA), the National Quantum Computing Centre and some of the world’s most exciting science and technology companies.

The exhibition also plays a major role in inspiring future innovators through the Festival's STEM Programme, which will welcome more than 1,000 students from across the UK to meet leading technology pioneers.

The new collaboration reflects a shared commitment by Goodwood and Harwell to tell the stories behind breakthrough innovation, connecting pioneering companies with wider audiences and demonstrating how science and technology are helping solve some of society's biggest challenges.

Dr Barbara Ghinelli, Director Innovation Clusters and Harwell Campus UKRI-STFC, said: “This Memorandum of Understanding marks the beginning of an exciting collaboration between Harwell Campus and Goodwood, bringing together two organisations that are recognised globally for innovation, excellence and ambition. We share a commitment to pushing boundaries, fostering world-class partnerships and creating environments where breakthrough ideas can flourish.

By combining Harwell's strengths in science, technology and innovation with Goodwood's heritage of engineering, mobility and future-focused thinking, we have an opportunity to accelerate collaboration across sectors, connect pioneering businesses and explore new solutions to some of the world's most pressing challenges. We look forward to working together to unlock new opportunities for our communities, our partners and the wider UK innovation ecosystem."
