Goodwood has been shortlisted in two categories for the prestigious Beautiful South Awards this year.
The estate’s field to fork restaurant Farmer, Butcher, Chef, has been announced as a finalist for best eating venue and the Goodwood Estate is in the final three for Wedding Venue of the Year 2020/21.
Entertaining and Hospitality Managing Director, Andrew Coggings said: “We have worked tirelessly and in the most challenging of circumstances to continue providing, when possible, the best experiences for diners and married couples to enjoy here on the Goodwood Estate.
“Even being nominated as finalists feels like a win already and provides a welcome boost to our weary but incredibly dedicated hospitality teams. Now we are finally turning a corner with the terrible pandemic we are working extra hard and looking forward to welcoming guests back to the estate next month.”
The winners will be announced in a virtual event ceremony on 4 March, hosted by Andrew Mosely from The Grand Hotel, Brighton and Fran Downton from Tourism South East. Finalists will be awarded with gold, silver and bronze trophies in recognition of their achievements.
Weddings at the Goodwood Estate and the Farmer, Butcher, Chef restaurant were picked from this year’s 100 applications. Tourism South East, the organisers of the awards, revealed there are 63 finalists along with 12 businesses being commended. The organisers said it has been an ‘unprecedented year’ with entries from across the region.
Fran Downton, chief executive of Tourism South East said: “We felt strongly that the Beautiful South Awards should go ahead this year. Recognising and celebrating the quality and excellence of our tourism business, in the face of adversity is really important to us.”
The entrants were shortlisted from their application forms and through an independent judging process that was adapted to accommodate the restrictions to the hospitality industry.
Last season Goodwood scooped two gold awards – for the Best Business Venue of the Year and Hotel of the Year in the Beautiful South 2019/2020 in a ceremony held at The Grand Hotel in Brighton.
