Entertaining & Hospitality | Press Article 02/12/25

Set within the heart of the of the idyllic South Downs National Park, the Goodwood Estate encapsulates the perfect, all-round countryside escape. Spanning 11,000 acres of rolling hills and woodlands, and home to a collection of luxurious Goodwood Cottages, this December will see the addition of two new Grade II listed properties: Cowman's Cottage and Dairymaid's Cottage - both offering expanded layouts and three bedrooms to accommodate larger groups and families.

Designed to sleep six guests each and boasting a range of modern amenities, Cowman's Cottage and Dairymaid's Cottage provide a plush and welcoming home-from-home at the heart of the Goodwood Estate. Believed to have been first designed by famed English architect James Wyatt, the cottages deliver on both country charm and contemporary comfort and are a welcome addition to the existing cottages: The Pheasantry, Peach Tree Cottage, Crab Apple Cottage and Windmill Cottage.

From glorious open fires and wholesome, authentic range ovens to practical dishwashers, washing machines, and parking for up to three cars, the new cottages are as convenient as they are appealing. A short walk from The Goodwood Hotel, as well as the Farm Shop and Art Foundation, the new cottages are positioned just a stone’s throw from Molecomb Stud, providing picturesque views of the world-famous horses in their stables. Just a short walk from the park entrance to the estate, and directly opposite the farm, cottage guests couldn’t be better positioned to enjoy all the estate has to offer.

Inspired by their proximity to what was the former dairy, the cottage’s names reflect the jobs of their former occupiers, as verified by acclaimed local historian, John Martin Robinson. Guests can expect the same high-end finishes as displayed across the rest of the cottages, as well as The Goodwood Estate, from beautiful bespoke wallpapers and tiles, to large, sumptuous beds, rich colour schemes and grand statement pieces, as well as private front and back gardens. Led by talented interior designer Cindy Leveson, the design concept seamlessly extends the look and feel of the magnificent Hound Lodge – Goodwood’s exclusive countryside retreat which offers all the comforts of a traditional English country house, complete with ten bedrooms, a private chef and butler.

In Dairymaid's Cottage, all the bedrooms boast their own bathrooms, including one en suite. One of the bedrooms is on the ground floor, with the super king size bed also able to split into single beds if needed. The other two bedrooms have king size beds. Cowman's Cottage has three en suite bedrooms, all with king size beds.

Famed for hosting the UK’s most famous motorsport and horseracing festivals, West Sussex’s iconic Goodwood Estate is brimming with history, culture and fun-filled activities, offering an unforgettable experience for its guests. From foodies, spa-lovers, art buffs and wellbeing enthusiasts to those wanting to get up and go, there’s no better place for a countryside staycation.

Cowman's Cottage and Dairymaid's Cottage will be available from £500 per night (two-night minimum stay). Price does not include breakfast at Farmer, Butcher, Chef.
