Goodwood partners with South Downs Water

Goodwood has partnered with local supplier, South Downs Water, as the Estate-wide provider of mineral water for 2018, complementing the Estate’s sustainability portfolio.

South Downs water is a natural mineral water drawn from an artesian well 420ft underground and enriched with minerals from deep within the South Downs. South Downs Water will be a partner of Festival of Speed, Goodwood Racecourse and Goodwood Revival as well as supplying water to Goodwood’s numerous venues across the estate.

One of the most obvious sustainability black marks against the bottled water industry relates to imports, with over one fifth (22%) of water sold in the UK sourced overseas, according to the Natural Hydration Council, a business membership group. Most bottled water comes from northern Europe, with some even coming from as far as Fiji or the Himalayas.

As the Goodwood Estate continues to implement initiatives supporting sustainability, local sourcing and the environment, it recognises the challenges faced by the bottled water industry. This commitment to a locally sourced and distributed product, within 5 miles of the Estate, will further help to reduce food miles, imports and the wider environmental impact, positively influencing the health and wellbeing of the local community and estate visitors.

About Goodwood:

Goodwood is a 12,000-acre estate in the heart of the Sussex countryside. Home to the Festival of Speed, the Qatar Goodwood Festival and the Revival, it is also becoming increasingly famous for food. Please visit Goodwood.com for more information.

Food at Goodwood:

Goodwood Home Farm, one of the largest lowland organic farms in Europe at 3,400 acres, has become the linchpin of Goodwood’s sustainable food philosophy and has put the Estate on the map as a ‘foodie’ destination. Goodwood is unique in being able to control every aspect of its produce, from the fields where cattle, sheep and pigs graze to the in-house butchery and eventually to the kitchen – where the dishes are beautifully crafted.
