Goodwood throws open the gates for A Walk in the Park

Goodwoof | Press Article 31/01/25

  • Dog lovers are invited to celebrate National Walk Your Dog Day at Goodwood on Saturday 22 February
  • Unique chance to walk the iconic Festival of Speed hillclimb
  • A Walk in the Park event is free of charge and fun for all the family

Thanks to Goodwood’s annual celebration of all things dog, Goodwoof, (Saturday 17 & Sunday 18 May), it’s well known that the estate is crazy about canines. To celebrate National Walk Your Dog Day on Saturday 22 February, Goodwood will open the gates to the glorious parkland surrounding Goodwood House, to dogs, and their families, inviting them to stretch their legs by walking part of the world-renowned Festival of Speed hillclimb, which is not normally accessible to the public.

Gates will open at 0900hrs with the walk opening from 10.00am until 1.00pm that day. There will be plenty of free parking, quality coffee and cake outlets, dog-friendly activities en route, and the chance to capture some superb pictures for social media posting at the walk’s highest point giving stunning views over the Chichester Plain, the shimmering sea and Isle of Wight beyond. Goodwoof’s official charity for this year, Wild at Heart Foundation will be available to talk about their essential work helping to compassionately reduce the world’s stray dog population through funded sterilisation, welfare and education programmes.

There will be two routes available on the day. The shorter route is ideal for families with young children as it’s all buggy friendly, although steep in places, and loops back on itself, with the longer route taking in some muddier, more uneven ground as it meanders further up the hillclimb, along the horse gallops, and back to Goodwood House.

After enjoying lots of fresh air and exercise, visitors can find several pre-bookable places on the Goodwood estate in which to enjoy a well-deserved lunch before heading home. The Goodwood Bar & Grill and Farmer, Butcher, Chef restaurant will be serving delicious food, as well as the Aerodrome Café at the Goodwood Motor Circuit, all of which enthusiastically welcome dogs. To book, visit goodwood.com

And, if there's an adrenaline junkie in the family, why not treat them to a thrilling driving experience at Goodwood Motor Circuit afterwards? Don’t worry—your four-legged friends are welcome at the circuit too. Plus, our flagship shop will be open to cater to all your shopping needs—for both humans and dogs!

There’s no charge to join A Walk in the Park, but attendees are asked to complete the registration form at: https://www.goodwood.com/whats-on/a-walk-in-the-park/

About Goodwoof
Goodwoof is a celebration of all that we love about dogs on the Goodwood Estate. It takes place in the fields around the James Wyatt-designed Kennels, which is now the social home of our sporting membership on Saturday 17 and Sunday 18 May 2025. The event offers a wide range of activities and demonstrations designed to delight, entertain and inform. Dog owners and their families and friends can encourage their own dog to have a go, browse our carefully hand-picked retailers, enjoy a dip in Fido’s Lido, sit back with a glass of Taittinger champagne, relax in The Randox Studio with a spot of sound bathing, reiki or dog yoga, or marvel at the clever kennels designed by architects from around the world as part of the Barkitecture competition.
