Motorsport | Press Article 13/08/26

Where the next generation of drivers begin their journey.

Goodwood Motor Circuit has been the proving ground for some of the world's greatest drivers since 1948. Now, it will become the place where the next generation takes their first turn behind the wheel.

Launching on 13 August, the all-new Junior Driving Experiences give aspiring drivers the opportunity to experience the thrill of driving at one of Britain's most iconic motoring destinations. Combining expert instruction with exclusive access to Goodwood's world-famous Motor Circuit and Estate, the experience has been designed to inspire confidence, develop lifelong driving skills and ignite a passion for driving from the very first rev of the engine.

For many young people, learning to drive begins on housing estates or quiet residential roads. At Goodwood, it begins somewhere extraordinary.

Participants can choose from two distinct Junior Driving Experiences, each offering a unique introduction to driving.

The Junior Driving Experience: Track and Skid Pan, for young drivers aged 12 and over with a minimum height of 1.5 metres, offers an unforgettable introduction to driving behind the wheel of a modern automatic BMW 230i. Set against the backdrop of one of Britain's most celebrated homes of motorsport, participants tackle exciting circuit and low grip exercises that build confidence, develop steering, braking, observation and vehicle control, all under the guidance of Goodwood's expert instructors. It's the perfect first step behind the wheel and where a lifelong love of driving begins.

For those looking to master a manual, the Junior Driving Experience: Off-Road Adventure, for young drivers aged 14 and over with a minimum height of 1.5 metres, offers the chance to learn in an authentic Series IIA Land Rover. Beginning on the historic Goodwood Motor Circuit, participants develop the fundamentals of manual driving, including clutch control, gear selection and smooth vehicle handling, before putting their new skills into practice on the dedicated activity field, tackling slalom courses, varied terrain and off-road obstacles. Combining expert tuition with one of Britain's most iconic vehicles, it's a driving experience that celebrates Goodwood's rich motoring heritage while building confidence in a setting unlike anywhere else.

Together, the two experiences create a driving journey unlike any other. From the precision of the Motor Circuit to the character and capability of a classic Land Rover, participants gain the confidence, control and respect that underpin a lifetime of safe driving, while creating memories that few first-time drivers will ever be able to match.

Every session is tailored to each driver's ability, with exciting missions and challenges designed to develop their skills and confidence. As they return, new experiences and greater challenges encourage continued progression, making every visit rewarding and ensuring there's always another milestone to achieve.

At Goodwood, driving has always been about more than getting from A to B. It is about skill, confidence, enjoyment and a deep appreciation for the art of driving. The Junior Driving Experience has been created to ensure that philosophy is passed on to the next generation from the very beginning.

Sam Medcraft, General Manager at the Goodwood Motor Circuit, said:

"Everyone remembers their first time behind the wheel. We wanted to create an experience worthy of that moment. Whether it's taking your very first drive on our iconic Circuit or learning the craft of manual driving in a classic Series IIA Land Rover, these experiences are designed to build confidence, develop real driving skills and, above all, instil a genuine love of driving that lasts a lifetime."

The Junior Driving Experience launches on 13 August, with the first experience dates taking place on 8 November 2026 and 24 January 2027. Bookings will open from launch, with experiences available to purchase as unforgettable gifts or to mark the beginning of a young driver's journey.
