Today - 8 January - marks National Labrador Day, and Goodwoof is delighted to take the opportunity to celebrate one of the nation’s most-loved breeds. In honour of the occasion, The Duke of Richmond posed with a line-up of Labradors - Bonnie, Badger, Autumn and Rufus - at The Kennels. Fellow Labradors - Bob and Dylan - tried and tested the Foster + Partners’ Dome-Home and Barc Barkitecture kennel competition entries from 2022 and 2023 respectively.

Each year, Goodwoof celebrates a particular breed across the weekend, and in 2024, we’re looking forward to welcoming Labradors of all shapes and sizes for the ultimate dog’s day out. This beloved breed is one which is close to the Estate’s heart, with The Duke of Richmond’s grandfather owning a black Labrador, Bruce. Family-friendly all-rounders, these laid-back, loving, and active canines are equally comfortable at home as they are out in the field. Widely recognised for their affectionate nature, Labradors are renowned for operating as guide dogs, service dogs and working dogs. Visitors to Goodwoof can expect to see an array of Labradors across the weekend, kick-starting the event across both days.

For the first time at Goodwoof, the celebratory parade will take place on both Saturday 18 and Sunday 19 May. Led by The Duke of Richmond, hundreds of Labradors will take centre stage and gather in front of Goodwood House before making their way down onto the Goodwoof event site, ending in front of The Kennels. Visitors and their Labrador companions can secure their place in the Labrador Parade here and use LABRADOR50 to receive 50% off admission tickets. Terms and conditions apply.

Goodwoof offers an action-packed day out full with all activities included in the ticket price. Dogs can cool off in Fido’s Lido having taken part in the Fastest Dog competition presented by DHL, relax while practising Dog Yoga in The Studio presented by Randox Health and get a glimpse of their future with tarot card reading. Discounted Young Persons tickets are available for those aged 13-21 and under 12’s and dogs go free.

About Goodwoof presented by MARS Petcare
Goodwoof presented by MARS Petcare is a celebration of all that we love about dogs on the Goodwood Estate. It takes place in the fields around the James Wyatt-designed Kennels, which is now the social home of our sporting membership on Saturday 18 and Sunday 19 May 2024. The event offers a wide range of activities and demonstrations designed to delight, entertain and inform. Dog owners and their families and friends can encourage their own dog to have a go, browse our carefully hand-picked retailers, enjoy a dip in Fido’s Lido, sit back with a glass of Taittinger champagne, relax in The Studio presented by Randox Health with a spot of sound bathing, reiki or Dog Yoga, or marvel at the clever kennels designed by architects from around the world as part of the Barkitecture competition.
