- 2009 Formula 1 World Champion to race at Goodwood Revival again
- Button made his historic racing debut at the 2021 meeting
- Goodwood Revival takes place Friday 16 - Sunday 18 September.
Goodwood is delighted to announce that Jenson Button will return to race at this year’s Revival, taking place Friday 16 - Sunday 18 September at the Goodwood Motor Circuit.
Button made his historic racing debut at the 2021 Revival where he took part in the Stirling Moss Memorial Trophy driving a Jaguar E-type alongside Alex Buncombe, with the duo also making an appearance in an AC Cobra for the RAC TT Celebration.
Ahead of the event in September, we are delighted to share the news that Jenson Button will be judging the Race Flag Competition as part of the Settrington Cup’s 10th anniversary celebrations. The winner of the design competition will have the opportunity to race The Duke of Richmond’s Austin J40 pedal car in the Settrington Cup at the Goodwood Revival and will also be invited to take part in the Settrington Cup Testing Day in July.
Open to children aged four to 11, entrants will need to download and print this template, create their design and then submit their entry either by post or email. The competition closes on Sunday 5 June, with the winner due to be selected by Button and their design created for use at the Revival race. Full details of the competition, including the Terms and Conditions can be found here.
Jenson Button said: “I thoroughly enjoyed making my historic racing debut at the Revival last year and having the opportunity to get behind the wheel of some exceptional cars - and I’m looking forward to doing it all over again in September! I’m also excited to be judging the Race Flag Competition and seeing the creative genius of the next generation.”
The Duke of Richmond said: “Jenson Button is a great friend of Goodwood and we were delighted that he made his long-awaited historic racing debut at the Revival last year. I’m looking forward to seeing him in action again this September and would like to thank him for agreeing to judge the Settrington Cup Race Flag Competition - I know my J40 will be in safe hands.”

About the Goodwood Revival
The Goodwood Revival is the world’s greatest historic motor race meeting, and the only sporting event of its kind to be staged entirely in a period theme. More than just an unrivalled weekend of historic racing, it is an immersive celebration of a less disposable world, where “make do and mend” was a way of life rather than a casual slogan.
The Revival is, at its heart, a celebration of craftsmanship and sustainability, from an age when possessions were made to last and be cherished. It promotes a thoroughly modern ethos – to “reduce, reuse, repair, restore and recycle” – in the most authentic way possible. All the cars are original, having been lovingly maintained since new, many of the outfits have been handed down through generations, and even the retailers specialise in pre-owned artefacts – everything from clothes and accessories to automobilia and books.
It is, proudly, the world’s biggest and most glamorous second-hand event.
