Formula 1 World Champion Jenson Button will reunite with his championship-winning car, the Brawn BGP 001, at next year’s 83rd Members’ Meeting presented by Audrain Motorsport.

Button last drove the Brawn BGP 001 in 2019 to mark the 10th anniversary of his championship win. Next year, he will return to the cockpit for an on-track demonstration to celebrate his illustrious career, following his retirement from professional motor racing.

The Brawn BGP 001 - the first and only car built by the Brawn GP Team - proved extraordinarily quick during the 2009 season, with the team winning eight out of the seventeen races with Jenson Button and Rubens Barrichello at the helm.

In attendance across the weekend, the Formula 1 World Champion will make his Members’ Meeting debut in the very car in which he claimed the 2009 championship, which previously appeared at the Festival of Speed in 2016 and during SpeedWeek in 2020.

Button has had a long association with Goodwood, attending headline motorsport events since the early 2000s and making his historic racing debut in the Royal Automobile Club TT Celebration (RAC TT) at Revival in 2021. In 2025, he took home the Freddie March Memorial Trophy, alongside racing his 1962 Jaguar E-Type CUT 8 in the RAC TT, which he bought specifically for the occasion.

Friend of Goodwood and 2009 Formula 1 World Champion Jenson Button said: “I am excited to be making my Members' Meeting debut, and in no less special a car than the Brawn BGP 001. I last had a chance to drive it back in 2019, which was incredibly emotional and quite surreal. I cannot wait to experience that feeling all over again, and where better than Goodwood!”

The Duke of Richmond CBE DL said: “I can’t wait to see Jenson back behind the wheel of the fabled Brawn BGP001 at the 83rd Members’ Meeting. Seeing, and hearing, a modern Formula 1 car at speed around the Goodwood Motor Circuit is always a thrill - a tantalising glimpse at what might have been, had the circuit not closed in 1966. And this time will be even more special, as we reflect on the career of one of Britain’s most popular World Champions, and the unique success of the Brawn team during that amazing 2009 season. Jenson has been a loyal supporter of everything we do at Goodwood since he first entered F1 nearly 26 ago, although remarkably this will be the first time he has ever have driven the Brawn here. It really will be an ‘I was there’ moment, and the best possible way to celebrate the end of Jenson’s professional racing career.”

The demonstration joins the previously announced celebration of one of Formula 1’s most charismatic figures, James Hunt, Super Touring Car demonstration and Shoot-Out and all-sustainable race schedule.

Early bird tickets for the 83rd Members’ Meeting presented by Audrain Motorsport are available to the Goodwood Road Racing Club (GRRC) here until Wednesday 31 December. Further information about joining the Fellowship, including the benefits on offer, is available here.
