Goodwood is excited to announce that this year’s Revival will open with an almighty roar, as a contingent of up to 200 pre-1966 motorcycles take part in a parade around the historic Motor Circuit, which celebrates its 75th anniversary this year.
Set to be one of the most spectacular opening track parades ever held at Revival, the impressive collection of motorcycles will take to the track each morning to formally open the event. Visitors can expect to see motorcycles from BMW Motorrad, BSA, Harley-Davidson, Indian Motorcycles, Royal Enfield, and Triumph’s history among others.
As these mighty machines come together to kickstart the Revival in style, this year’s opening track parade will bring together a community of bikers, making it the place to see some of the most timeless models from across the 1940s, '50s and '60s. The fleet of motorcycles will also be on display in Earls Raceway and outside a special tattoo parlour on Richmond Lawn, where eventgoers will be able to get their very own real tattoo (fake ones also available!).
Having been joined by a host of iconic vehicles such as the Austin 7, Mini and Fiat 500 over the years, the Revival’s opening track parade focuses on celebrating truly iconic machinery from the past. With motorcycles only participating in the opening track parade during the early years of Revival, the on-track action will honour the Revival’s 25-year history as well as acknowledging a trio of celebrations taking place this year for three of the most renowned motorcycle manufacturers:
- 100 years of BMW Motorrad
- 120 years of Harley-Davidson
- 125 years of Norton Motorcycles
- 130 years of Royal Enfield
Continuing the theme of all things two-wheeled, the parade will be joined by the Barry Sheene Memorial Trophy – as the Motor Circuit hosts a battle for 1960s Grand Prix motorcycles with riding legends joining us from the world of British Superbikes, MotoGP and the Isle of Man TT.
The parade will also join the 14 other races already confirmed for the Goodwood Revival, Friday 8 - Sunday 10 September.
