- NAQEEB wins the Virgin Bet Foundation Stakes – Listed Race.
- TIMEFORSHOWCASING wins the British EBF £100,000 two-year-old Fillies' Series Final.
- Autumn Racing at Goodwood Racecourse - Wednesday 24 September.
Outsider NAQEEB (33/1) ridden by Ryan Sexton won his first race in two years, taking Autumn Racing’s Virgin Bet Foundation Stakes Listed Race at Goodwood Racecourse.
The Julie Camacho northern trained Naqeeb, owned by Mr Niall O’Keeffe, held off its challengers under a strong ride from Sexton, with Ancient Wisdom placing second and favourite Saddadd finishing in third.
Jockey, Ryan Sexton, said: “He seems to really enjoy it here at Goodwood. I had such an easy time in front, I can do everything I want and had one to aim at turning into the straight, round here he loves it. When you go down that hill he grabs a hold of the bit.”
“He stays well, but he probably is a bit too keen in those further trips. He’s a horse that just gallops out and I was questioning the ground, but it dried up enough today. He deserves it, he’s been running really well this year. It’s nice to get a win on the board for him and for Niall.”
TIMEFORSHOWCASING (4/1) was successful in the British EBF £100,000 two-year-old Fillies' Series Final, ridden by James Doyle.
The Charlie Johnston trained, and Mr Jaber Abdullah owned filly fought off the series’ biggest field to date with 14 runners. Wetsand finished second and the Eve Johnson Houghton-trained Mystic Moment finished third.

About Goodwood Racecourse
Introduced to the Goodwood Estate in 1802 by the 3rd Duke of Richmond, the Goodwood Racecourse has long been steeped in horseracing heritage. From Lord George Bentinck’s winning horse in the 1836 St Leger, which was transported in secret from Goodwood to Doncaster, to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth’s horse Love Affair taking its final win, the racecourse has been home to some significant moments in horseracing history.
Situated on the South Downs and hosting 19 race days from May through October, thousands of racegoers flock to one of the world’s most beautiful racecourses each year to enjoy a season of top-class racing and entertainment. With a varied calendar of fixtures, race day highlights include Three Friday Nights, the May Festival, the Qatar Goodwood Festival presented by Visit Qatar—more affectionately known as Glorious Goodwood—and the Season Finale, to name a few.
The Qatar Goodwood Festival presented by Visit Qatar is one of the undisputed highlights of the British flat racing season.
