Festival of Speed | Press Article 17/04/24

Nearly 30 brand new cars – headlined by the staggering new Bugatti Chiron – are making some form of debut at this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed, which has opened today with the Moving Motor Show.

The 1500hp Chiron, worth around £2 million – which has an eye-watering top speed of 261mph – is making its UK dynamic debut tomorrow (Friday June 24) but is on display today at Goodwood.

Elsewhere, there are UK, European and even a handful of global debuts being made both in the Moving Motor Show Pavilion and on the main manufacturer stands.

As well as the Chiron, some of the stars of the show have been new metal from the likes of Ferrari, Bentley, Porsche and McLaren.

The Aston Martin DB11 was seen being driven for the first time anywhere in the world at Goodwood today, as was the stunning McLaren 570S Sprint. Renault’s hot version of its Twingo city car, boasting 110bhp, has also been unveiled to the world for the first time today, along with the new MINI Seven.

Mazda’s latest iteration of its iconic MX-5, the MX-5 RF, has made its European debut at the Moving Motor Show and there have been a plethora of UK debuts.

Among them, nine new Audi models have made their UK bow; Nissan’s new GT-R, the Ferrari 488 Spider, the Alfa Romeo Giulia, Maserati’s first ever SUV, the Levante, and the beautiful Jaguar F-Type SVR.

Bentley has its new Mulsanne, Bentayga and GT Flying Spur on display for the first time in the UK, while Porsche’s 911 R is making its UK bow. The much-anticipated Ford Fiesta ST200, launched as the Fiesta celebrates its 40th anniversary, has also been climbing Goodwood’s 1.160mile hillclimb course. The V8-powered Lexus LC500 is on display today but will also be powering up the hill during the rest of the weekend.

Tesla is also at Goodwood today, giving its Model X its first UK outing; the car went on sale earlier this year in a blaze of publicity.
