Goodwood Racecourse to host Festival of Food and Racing in association with Great Taste

Goodwood Racecourse is delighted to introduce a three-day artisan food festival in 2017. The Festival of Food and Racing, in association with Great Taste, will take place from Thursday 25 to Saturday 27 May and will feature a fabulous combination of award-winning food and drink alongside high-quality horseracing.

Great Taste is the world’s most coveted blind-tasted food awards, celebrating the very best in food and drink. Perfectly situated overlooking the course in the Gordon Enclosure and accessible from all Enclosures, Great Taste will host an award-winning market offering produce from a range of local and artisan suppliers. The Great Taste Market will be a complimentary addition to the racing each day, housing traditional stalls with cheeses, breads, oils, condiments, fudge, chocolates, meats, ice-creams, wines, beers and much more.

The East Parade Lawn will be dedicated to Goodwood’s own organic Home Farm, with chefs providing demonstrations of how to get the best out of the Estate’s produce. Showcasing the sustainable approach adopted by the Farm, beef, pork and lamb from the lowland herds will be used alongside the famous Molecomb Blue and Levin Down cheeses. rhubarb will be demonstrating some of their ‘deliciously different’ dishes and providing catering in the hospitality areas and restaurants around the Racecourse. Gingerbread decorating and storytelling will provide children with engaging activities throughout the afternoon.

In addition to the food offerings, Richmond Enclosure guests will be able to peruse further stalls for products not found on the high street, as the Rare Brands Market will bring a selection of hand-picked retailers and their wares.

The racing will provide a superb opportunity to see some of the stars of the sport, with four Listed races – the Height of Fashion, Tapster, Cocked Hat and Festival Stakes – giving clues as to which horses might contest the Classic races later in the year.

Alex Eade, Goodwood Racecourse General Manager, said; “We are really excited to be able to develop this into a three-day fixture and expand upon a theme that has proven extremely popular over the last two seasons. Hosting the Great Taste Market here gives racegoers an opportunity to sample some of the wonderful produce that comes from the local area and the chefs demonstrations will be back by popular demand. This event is perfect for families to enjoy a great day out on the Downs and, as usual, kids go free.”

Tickets start from £21 on Thursday 25 and Friday 26 May. Tickets start from £10 on Saturday 27 May. Children under the age of 18 receive free admission on all days. Please call 01243 216610 or visit www.goodwood.com/horse-racing  For hospitality, please call 01243 755054.
