Silhouettes and Sports-Racers
26 June 2016
Some of the world’s most extraordinary sports-racing cars have made their presence felt at the 2016 Goodwood Festival of Speed. The Group 5 ‘Silhouette’ cars have impressed on the Hill, not least the one-off, Martini-liveried Porsche 935 ‘Baby’ which has flown in the hands of journalist Richard Meaden and works driver, Charlie Eastwood.
The Sports Racers class, however, has provided even more drama, with Justin Law on customarily ballsy form aboard his Jaguar XJ12D IMSA weapon. Hillclimb superstar, David Franklin, has impressed in Arnold Meier’s glorious Ferrari 312P Spider, while Olympic hero Sir Chris Hoy has been out in the Ligier-Nissan JS P2 which he drove in this year’s Le Mans 24 Hour race. It has also been a treat to watch Gustavo Menezes in the Alpine-Nissan A460 which is still unwashed and splatted with flies following its recent LMP2 class win in the French endurance classic.
