Touring cars to the fore at the Festival

Festival of Speed | Press Article 16/04/24

Touring cars and the aces you guide them have long been a major draw at Goodwood events, and the 2019 Festival of Speed is celebrating tin-top greats throughout the ages. These span everything from a Ford RS2600 driven by Kara Birrell, daughter of the late, great Gerry Birrell who raced it in period, to rather more recent Audi DTM weaponry driven by nine-time Le Mans winner, Tom Kristensen. Former BTCC star, Kiwi Paul Radisich, has also been out in action aboard the Bastos-liveried Eggenberger Ford Sierra Cosworth RS500 which won the 1989 Spa 24 Hours by a whopping eight laps. Highlight for many, however, has been the sight of former DTM champion and Le Mans winner Frank Biela braving the Audi 200 Quattro Trans-Am.
