Visionary contemporary artist Daniel Arsham has designed a bespoke livery for a Volkswagen Type 2 Split Screen which will take part in the Goodwood Revival’s Track Opening Parade.
The striking design - inspired by the Revival’s immersive Haight-Ashbury pop-up - celebrates the spirit of the 1960s by championing analogue image techniques, in contrast to the digital tools commonly used by contemporary artists today.
At the heart of the design is a Pegasus - a timeless symbol of freedom and imagination - evoking the boundless possibilities that defined the era, with the campervan serving as a moving canvas, seamlessly bridging past and present.
This is the second time that Arsham has worked with the Goodwood Revival. In 2024, he collaborated with Team Ikuzawa to create a bespoke Porsche 904 livery alongside an exclusive capsule collection. The eye-catching design toured the Goodwood Motor Circuit, raced by father-son duo Emanuele Pirro and Goffredo Pirro in the Royal Automobile Club TT Celebration and also made an appearance at this year’s Festival of Speed.
The Volkswagen Type 2 Split Screen wrapped with Arsham’s design will feature as part of the Revival’s track opening parade each morning. 2025 marks the 75th anniversary of the Split Screen’s inception, and the Revival is set to welcome up to 100 examples of the model, including the likes of ambulances, fire engines, transporters and even ice cream vans.
Daniel Arsham’s design joins the previously announced line-up of riders and riders, BMW Art Cars on display in Earls’ Court, Alfa Romeo celebration, all-sustainable fuel race list and celebration for two-time Formula 1 world Champion Jim Clark.
Saturday tickets for the Goodwood Revival are now sold out, with limited Friday and Sunday tickets remaining at goodwood.com.
