Ducati will celebrate its centenary - a “century made of seconds” – in style at Goodwood Festival of Speed presented by Mastercard next month. As well as showcasing over 100 years of the style and passion that has redefined two-wheeled excellence, Ducati will bring together some of the world’s most legendary riders for an iconic Goodwood Balcony Moment on Thursday 9 July.
Over the years, the balcony of Goodwood House has welcomed motorsport legends, and on the Thursday of this year’s event, some of Ducati’s most successful racing champions will gather for a special Goodwood celebration, including Ducati Legend riders Carl Fogarty, Troy Bayliss, Casey Stoner, Dario Marchetti, Michael Rutter, Josh Brookes and Shane 'Shakey' Byrne. Directly from WSBK Donington race, the Balcony Moment will also welcome Ducati Riders, Nicolò Bulega and Iker Lecuona (Ducati Corse Aruba Team), Alvaro Bautista, Tarran Mackenzie and Tommy Bridewell.
Goodwood Festival of Speed visitors will also be able to see the prestigious and iconic Collezione 100 on display in the paddocks. A century of history, defined not only by unmistakable design, benchmark performance, and innovative technologies that have become state-of-the-art, but also by the many standout liveries that have touched the hearts of Ducatisti around the world.
Ducati has selected the most iconic and unforgettable liveries from the last 100 years for Collezione 100: including the livery of the Panigale V4 S 100, inspired by the graphics of the bike that won the first edition of the 200 Miglia di Imola race in 1972 with riders Paul Smart and Bruno Spaggiari; and the livery of the Diavel V4 RS 100, inspired by the graphics of the production 900 Replica (1979), fueled by the incredible Ducati win in the 1978 Tourist Trophy by Mike Hailwood.
In total, the Ducati Collezione 100 involves 10 numbered liveries, strictly limited to 100 units worldwide.
Fabrizio Cazzoli, Ducati UK Managing Director, said: “This will be a remarkable moment in the history of Ducati. Shaping motorcycle culture, on and off road and track, has always been our role. Along the way we have forged priceless relationships and developed a world of Ducati passion, always maintaining our core values of Style, Sophistication, Performance and Trust. Our promise for the next 100 years is to keep on making each moment count. On 9 July, we’ll be celebrating Ducati sporting DNA talking about the most successful manufacturer achievements in the history of the Superbike World Championship, and we’ll celebrate Ducati product excellence and history with the exclusive Collezione 100. The Ducati family, or Ducatisti, are immensely proud of, and grateful for, the great honour paid to us all by the world-famous Goodwood Festival of Speed in this unique moment.”
The Duke of Richmond, CBE DL, founder of Goodwood Festival of Speed said: “Ducati is, quite simply, the most charismatic motorcycle brand in the world. It’s a little-known fact, but the first vehicle up the Goodwood Hilll, when we were planning the inaugural Festival of Speed in 1993, wasn’t a car, it was my own Ducati 888, a bike I still own to this day. It will be fantastic to have so many legendary bikes and riders joining us at this year’s Festival of Speed, as we celebrate Ducati’s centenary.”
